PC Hardware Guides

A machine that runs hot, sounds like a hairdryer, or dies at 40% battery usually isn’t finished. It’s usually dusty, dried out, or short on memory — all fixable in an afternoon with basic tools.

These guides cover the maintenance and upgrades worth doing yourself: thermal paste, RAM, cleaning, battery health, and the small stuff like mouse sensors that causes outsized annoyance.

They also tell you when to stop. Some jobs void a warranty, some need tools you don’t have, and some machines aren’t worth the parts. We’ll say so rather than let you find out halfway through.

Before you start anything here: back up your files, and check whether opening your machine voids its warranty.
